Check Out Christine Carr’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Christine Carr.

Christine, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
The older men in my family were mechanics, my grandfather had a business, Forrest Garage. It was passed onto my dad. When my dad passed one of my brothers acquired it. We (my brother , sister in law and my ex husband) decided to go into business together. That’s how Penn Club on 2nd came about. We were looking for something for the community to enjoy. We decided to open a private golf simulator club. We spoke to a local and got some great information.

This is from our website-

At Penn Club on 2nd, we are honoring Conshohocken’s roots and a favorite American past time in a new way! Penn Club on 2nd is brought to you by lifelong Conshohocken residents, tracing their roots on Forrest Street back to 1870. Before its most recent life as an autobody shop (built in 1955) and apartments, this property housed the original Penn Club, a social club founded for the businessmen of Conshohocken in 1889.

When thinking of what new life this location should take on the family looked to the past again for inspiration and found that, around the same time the club was originally founded, Conshohocken had its own golf course just down the street. While we cannot bring back the greens of this long-forgotten course, we can bring back the experience for all to enjoy.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Of course there have been struggles along the way. We are a private, members only club. Since we are not open to the public we rely on memberships and events.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I don’t know where to start. Here’s a bit about each of us. In addition to Penn Club!

Christine- I currently work for a hospice company as a liaison, prior to hospice I was a Clinical Liaison for skilled nursing facilities. I am working on becoming an End of Life Doula and a Geriatric Care Manager. I am also a landlord.

Tim- is a landlord

What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
I absolutely love this town! The community is amazing. We live in a small, very walkable area. We are close enough to Philadelphia but far enough away from the city life.
