Today we’d like to introduce you to Angel Rivera.
Hi Angel, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My journey with DJing started when I was 14. My father has been a DJ for as long as I can remember, and I grew up watching him—he even DJed at my middle school. That exposure sparked something in me, but everything I learned behind the turntables was ultimately self-taught.
At 14, I worked a summer job at Dorney Park and used the money I earned to buy my first turntables from my older brother. I started practicing in my bedroom, learning how to mix and slowly building my confidence. That eventually led to house parties and then my first nightclub opportunity through my brother, who was working security at the time.
From there, I spent years building my career throughout the Lehigh Valley, working in bars and clubs before expanding into private parties, corporate events, and weddings. As I got older, I realized my passion was really in creating experiences and being part of people’s biggest moments, which led me to focus more heavily on the mobile DJ and wedding side of the industry.
My personal journey wasn’t always easy. I became a father very young, dropped out of school, earned my GED, and went through some very difficult financial and personal years in my 20s. Those experiences forced me to grow up, take responsibility, and learn many lessons the hard way. In my 30s, I made the decision to work twice as hard and build something for myself.
I eventually established Stream DJ & Events in 2020, turning something that started as a teenage hobby into a real business and career. During the lockdown, I also discovered online streaming, which opened another chapter for me creatively.
Today, I’m proud of how far I’ve come. I’m still learning, still growing, and still figuring out exactly where this journey will take me, but I know that everything I’ve experienced—the good, the bad, and the difficult—helped shape the person and entrepreneur I am today.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
No, it definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. I became a father at a very young age, and my 20s came with a lot of financial and personal challenges. I dropped out of school, had to earn my GED, dealt with child support and even spent time incarcerated because I couldn’t keep up with those obligations. There were times when I lived in housing just trying to make ends meet.
Building a career in the DJ industry also came with its own challenges. I had to teach myself almost everything and learn how to navigate an industry where not everyone wants to see you succeed. I had to become selective about who I surrounded myself with and learn from every experience.
Looking back, those struggles became some of my biggest teachers. I made mistakes, took accountability, and learned the hard way. In my 30s, I realized I had to work twice as hard to build the life and career I wanted. Those experiences gave me resilience, perspective, and a much stronger appreciation for what I’ve been able to accomplish today.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m a professional DJ and entrepreneur specializing in weddings, private celebrations, corporate events, and other milestone occasions through my business, Stream DJ & Events, which I established in 2020.
What I’m really known for is the energy and personal connection I bring to every event. I’m naturally humble, approachable, trustworthy, and high-energy, but I also understand that being a DJ—especially at a wedding—is about much more than playing music. I’m helping create an experience that people will remember for the rest of their lives.
A large part of my business has been built through word-of-mouth, which is something I’m extremely proud of. People recommending me to their friends, family, and coworkers tells me that I’m doing something right. My reviews are from real clients who trusted me with some of the most important moments in their lives, and their feedback about how I helped make those moments memorable means more to me than any advertisement could.
What sets me apart is the passion I put into what I do. I don’t treat every event like just another job. I take the time to understand my clients, read the room, pay attention to the little details, and make sure the energy is right from beginning to end. I’ve spent decades growing in this industry, and I’m proud that something I started as a 14-year-old kid practicing in my bedroom has grown into a business built on trust, relationships, and genuine passion.
Alright so before we go can you talk to us a bit about how people can work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
People can work with me in a lot of different ways, whether it’s booking me for an event, collaborating with me as another vendor, or simply connecting with me professionally. I’m very approachable, and I believe in creating a team atmosphere rather than operating in my own little bubble.
When I arrive at an event, I’m not afraid to introduce myself to the other vendors, go over the timeline, communicate about what’s happening throughout the day, and cross-reference details so everyone is on the same page. We’re all there for the same reason—to give the client an incredible experience. My experience allows me to step up, communicate confidently, and help things run smoothly while still making everyone feel welcomed and respected.
As far as supporting me, honestly, the best support is simply allowing me to do what I do best. I’ve built much of my business through word-of-mouth and genuine relationships. People experience my energy, my professionalism, my sense of humor, and my passion firsthand, and that often leads them to recommend me to someone else.
I’m serious about my work, but I’m also a person who loves to laugh, joke around, and make people feel comfortable. I think that combination of professionalism and personality is a big part of why people remember me—and why they continue to support me long after the event is over.
