Hidden Gems: Meet Wilfredo Soto of THE FADE AND SHAVE BARBER SHOP

Today we’d like to introduce you to Wilfredo Soto.

Hi wilfredo, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Barbering started for me 1995 after getting my professional barbers license through apprenticeship in established barber shop
With a Barber teacher who mentored and helped hone Barber skills.
After leaving there I bounced around from different shops and including a hair salon where again I came across a hairstylist teacher and owner who added to my education.
Some years later I took all the knowledge and techniques i learned over the years decided to open my own business while going to school for business management
Because Barbering isn’t just about cutting hair , its about managing time, money and people.
THE FADE AND SHAVE WAS BORN IN 2003
A Traditional Barber Shop Built On Quality And Relationships
With over 30 years of experience, THE FADE AND SHAVE BARBER SHOP provides professional barber services for individuals and families throughout Bethlehem, PA. We’ve built our reputation on something simple: treating every client with respect, providing consistent results, and taking the time to deliver the haircut or grooming service that’s right for them.

Our story began with a belief that customers deserved better barbering experiences. We built our shop on the belief that every client deserves a dedicated, personalized barbering experience. From day one, our focus has been on attention to detail, strong customer relationships, and quality workmanship. We saw an opportunity to create a barber shop where attention to detail, customer relationships, and quality workmanship would always come first. That commitment continues to guide everything we do today.

When clients walk through our doors, they’re welcomed into a relaxing, family-friendly environment where all generations feel comfortable. From children receiving their first haircut to long-time customers who have trusted us for years, every person receives the same personalized attention and care. Whether you’re visiting for a fade haircut, beard trim, hot towel shave, scalp micropigmentation service, or routine grooming appointment, we take pride in tailoring every service to the individual.

Our traditional barber shop atmosphere combines old-school barbering values with modern styles and grooming techniques. We believe a great haircut starts with listening, understanding your goals, and creating a look that fits your appearance, lifestyle, and personal preferences. That’s why so many clients continue to return to our shop and recommend us to friends and family.

At THE FADE AND SHAVE BARBER SHOP, we’re proud to be part of the Bethlehem, PA, community. We value the relationships we’ve built over the years and remain committed to providing the consistent service, attention to detail, and welcoming atmosphere our clients have come to expect.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Owning a business is never smooth, when you become complacent is when you start to fail.
having a business is like having a child ,you have to love it ,nurture it ,watch it , and commit time to it 24/7 or else it will die on you .
The toughest part is stay relevant in a saturated market and making yourself stand apart when everyone is trying to fit in.
Being able to market yourself, while not breaking the bank.
Also watching good employees leave while being proud of their growth that they’re able to start their own business.

The covid shut down was a big hit financially.

We’ve been impressed with THE FADE AND SHAVE BARBER SHOP, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
The fade and Shave is a barber shop built on friendships and community. We’ve committed to keeping alot of the traditional barber shop values while bringing in modern technology and techniques to satisfy and any age group or demographic. The idea is family friendly atmosphere to eliminate the typical barber shop stigma brought about by shops these days. My wife has always been my biggest supporter and my driving force to continue to be better then I was yesterday.
