Today we’d like to introduce you to Lucas Keener.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I was born and raised in Lancaster, PA
After graduating high-school i moved to Fort Lauderdale, FL to pursue an art education and post graduation I moved back to Lancaster where I currently reside and work.
I have always loved drawing and telling stories and that naturally combined well into illustration and comics.
Telling fantastical stories through symbols and elements became my fascination within historical works and i learned how to add that into my own, not necessarily with the same symbols, but how to use them and how to hint at emotions and tones that i wanted.
Just like I’ve always liked comics i have always been writing and illustrating them, even when i was 5 and they were just stick figures. So i decided for my Senior project i would write a full comic chapter. And that was revised intro chapter 0 of my current flagship comic, “Cakeknife”, of which i am continuing to write, illustrate, and print.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road has been incredibly bumpy, while not the worst, I have gone without food and my own housing and without the support of other.
However now I feel as if I have the chance to thrive and test my mettle should i be able to rise to meet the challenges before me. And I am going to give it my all.

I mainly work in Surreal Fantasy Watercolor Illustration and write, illustrate and produce fantasy comics in watercolor.
I am incredibly proud of all the work I do. And if I have to pick what I am known for in my community, it would be the way I do my craft.

How can people work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
Collaboration is always hard for me, I am a control freak when it comes to my stories and my ideas, and unfortunately the collaborations are few and far between.
