Exploring Life & Business with Casey Tantala of Casey’s Chocolates LLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Casey Tantala.

Hi Casey, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Five years ago, I started making chocolate-covered pretzel rods as a fun hobby, gifting them to family and friends for holidays and birthdays. Over the years, I was told countless times that I should start selling my treats, but I never had much interest because I simply loved making them as gifts for the people I cared about.

My perspective started to change after welcoming our first child in 2024. I began thinking about how I could turn my hobby into a business, and in July 2024, I took the leap and hit “create” on my Facebook business page!

Since then, Casey’s Chocolates has grown in ways I never imagined! I went from making simple chocolate-covered pretzels with sprinkles and drizzles to creating chocolate-covered Oreos, caramel pretzel rods, pecan turtles, peanut butter buckeyes, and so much more. I’ve also expanded my creativity with silicone molds, edible dyes, and glitter to make custom treats for all kinds of special occasions.

As the business continued to grow, I started attending events and made the decision to step back from full-time to part-time at my corporate job so I could spend more time as a mom. In March 2025, I officially became licensed through the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture, marking another exciting milestone for my business!

Today, I continue to create custom orders for birthdays, weddings, holidays, and other special celebrations, while also partnering with eight wholesale locations that stock and sell my chocolates! In July 2026, we welcomed our second little one! Once my maternity leave ended, I officially stepped away from my corporate job and became a stay-at-home mom. This was something we had hoped for, and I’m so thankful to have the opportunity to spend more time with our children while continuing to grow something of my own.

Casey’s Chocolates started as a simple hobby and has grown into something I’m incredibly proud of. I’m excited to see what this next chapter brings as I focus on being a mom, creating delicious treats, and growing my wholesale partnerships!

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
One of the things I’m most thankful for is being able to run an in-home business. It allows me to be more present with my children while continuing to do something I love, without the added expenses and overhead that come with having a storefront. Of course, there are times when custom orders slow down, but having partnerships with my wholesale locations helps keep my business growing during those quieter periods.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Every treat I make is handcrafted with care and attention to detail. Whether it’s a custom order for a special occasion or a box of chocolates for a holiday, I take pride in making sure every detail is just right. From the chocolate and decorations to the packaging and final presentation, I want each order to feel special and be something my customers are excited to share and enjoy!

Risk taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
When I first started Casey’s Chocolates, I was nervous about selling my treats because I genuinely loved making them as gifts for family and friends. I worried that turning my hobby into a business might take away some of that joy, but it’s turned out to be the complete opposite! Seeing the smiles my chocolates bring to people’s faces has made this journey even more rewarding than I ever imagined.

I also wasn’t sure what to expect when I first started. Would I make sales? Would people enjoy my products? Would my little business actually grow? Looking back, I’m so thankful I took that leap of faith. I’ve made so many wonderful connections, gained amazing repeat customers, and met people I may never have crossed paths with otherwise.
