Today we’d like to introduce you to Justin Gingrich.
Hi Justin, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I started playing guitar in my early teens after being inspired by Red Hot Chili Peppers’ Behind the Music on VH1. I didn’t really take it too seriously until Trevor and I started playing together in our early 20s though. After that project fizzled out we played in various projects with and without each other on and off until 2020 when we started jamming with friends on what became Chasing The Vulture.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It’s easy to get discouraged playing music but whenever that happens we focus on why we started in the first place and that’s to play music that means something to us and hopefully others will enjoy too.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Our music is heavily inspired by the Alternative Rock and Grunge of the early 90s but isn’t limited to just that style. We all have a huge range of influences that spans from Pink Floyd to Woody Guthrie to System of a Down and even techno music. Being open minded to all styles lets us create something unique while staying true to the guitar driven rock that’s our bread and butter.
Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
The best part of the local scene is the people. From club employees, studio engineers, and other bands most people are great to work with.
It would be great to see more venues support local original music. There’s a lot of bands and talent in the area looking for a stage to perform.
