Today we’d like to introduce you to Lucas Corrales Ovares.
Hi Lucas, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I’m a 22 years old costarican artist, i’ve been creating since i was little. I’m also an animation student and an art teacher at my community center and at my art workshops proyect “Taller El Caracol”.
Early this year (january) i travelled all the way from Costa Rica to Lancaster PA for the “Art Battle” competition and it was one of the most amazing experiences in my life, i felt in love with Pennsylvania.
Since then, i’ve been a lot more motivated with being an artist and teaching people the joy of making art.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I’ve been blessed with a really supportive community. My family and friends had always support my passions and my goals, and when i arrived to Lancaster i was showered with love and support from the community.
Dedicating my life to art has it challenges; I have a lot of moments of self doubt and thinking if i’m doing the right choice, but at the end is all worth it.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m a multidisiplinary artist, art teacher and animation student.
I’m known for my illustrations, art workshops and being a live painter in some local events.
I’m proud to be a transgender latino artist, my life experiences made the artist and person i am today.
How do you define success?
Making someone smile through my art
