Meet Richard Reiser of Reiser general contracting

Today we’d like to introduce you to Richard Reiser.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I grew up in North Philadelphia
When I was nine years old, my aunt got me started doing drugs, smoking marijuana, and cigarettes at 13 years old I started using alcohol and harder drugs. I ran the streets without very much supervision or guidance and direction.
I continue to go down the wrong path started getting in trouble with the law
I ended up robbing and stealing to support my drug habit and selling drugs to support that habit.
I got a lot of trouble and got locked up in sentenced to seven years in a state penitentiary ended up giving many years of my life to the system. When I was 38 years old I finally figured it out and got clean.
I had a very bad addiction to the worst drugs out there, but I decided that was it and I wanted something different for myself in my life
Today I’m 46 years old and I’ve been clean for going on nine years
When I came home from jail the last time nine years ago and decided that I was going to change my life completely. I did.
I started my business Reiser General Contracting and have been working seven days a week ever since I opened this business. Today I have a very good name and a very good reputation.
I get back to my community at every opportunity that I can
I don’t need to charities. I go out of my way to try and help whoever I am able to help random strangers. I hope the 95-year-old lady who lives next-door to me. Take out her trash every week. Bring her mail up to the house every week.
Today I own two companies, Reiser General Contracting and all Rhodes fireplace and chimneys in Levittown PA
I finally just bought a house. I’m engaged to a wonderful woman. I have 10 employees who work for me and depend on me.
I’ve cut out all the negativity out of my life and I only surround myself with positivity positive people positive places, positive things
The things that I’ve been through in my past, I can only guess that it’s by God‘s grace that I’m still here to talk about it
I’ve went way above and beyond to try and help other people get out of their addiction since getting clean
I guess this is a short version of my story
All the things that I’ve been through in my life some of which I’m not proud of, and I would certainly change if I was able to however, everything I’ve been through has made me the man I am today and I am proud of who I am today.
Growing up, I never thought that I would hear my parents tell me that they’re proud of me because of the life that I’ve lived but today my parents tell me all the time how proud of me they are and I’m glad that I was able to get out of that life and get to where I always could’ve been all my parents are still alive to see it

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Someone struggles along the way where drugs and alcohol growing up without supervision and being raised by the streets
Being surrounded by negativity
