I came to USA 15 years ago, did internal medicine residency (my second residency!) and then worked with wellspan health for 11 years. While I was working, I found that there was something missing in the care and decided to pursue fellowship in integrative medicine which is a broader umbrella that includes functional medicine, Ayurvedic medicine, Chinese medicine etc.. after finishing this fellowship I started using that knowledge on my existing patients and it was a big success, practicing whole person care gave me a big satisfaction and for that reason I decided to launch my own practice.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Business establishment was a big challenge as we do not learn that in medical school! Then came marketing, but I am a life long learner, so I keep learning..
