Inspiring Conversations with Christy Myers of Envison Awaken

Today we’d like to introduce you to Christy Myers.

Hi Christy, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
How My business Began

My journey into holistic wellness really started in 2012, when I was simply a mom looking for natural options for my family of five.

At the time, my middle son was 8 years old and had significant behavioal challenges related to his autism. His meltdowns could be intense and sometimes lasted 45 mins or longer. We were doing thereapy and trying different thnigs to support him, but I wanted to explore natural options too. I was looking for anything that might bring a little more peace and balance to him and to our family.

In April of 2012, a friend introduced me to essential oils. I became fascinated with them pretty quickly. I loved learning about the different oils and finding ways to incorporate them into our lives.

There was one problem, though. My son had sensory sensitivites, and the scents that I enjoyed could be overwhelming to him.

That’s when I was introduced to a reflexology chart and learned about the different reflex points on the feet. I discovered that I could put a tiny drop of diluted essential oil on his big toe, cover them with socks and shoes, and the scent was far enough away from his nose that he didn’t mind it.

For our family, this became a turnng point. We began noticing that some of his meltdowns seemed to become much shorter. What had sometimes lasted 45 minutes or more could, on many occassions, be reduced to just a few minutes. Just from applying that one drop.

That experience sparked something in me.

I didn’t start out thinking I was going to have a wellness business. I was a desparate mom trying to find another way to support my child. But once I was introduced to reflexology, I became facinated by it. I wanted to understand it, not just the reflexology chart, but the practice itself and how it could be incorporated into holistic wellness.

My curiousity eventually became my passion.

In my late 30’s I made the decision to go back to school and pursue something completely different. In 2015, I enrolled at Baltimore School of Reflexology becuase I wanted to learn as much as I could about reflexology and its traditional practices.

At the same time, I was going through a divorce, so returning to school meant stepping into a lot of change all at once. It wasn’t necessarily the easiest time of my life, but it was also a time when I was beginning to discover who I was and what I wanted for my future, beyond being a mom.

Going back to school at that stage of my life was a big step, but it became one of the best decisions I ever made. I was beginging to discover what I felt I was truly meant to do.

What started as my search for something that might help my own family eventually grew into my life’s work.

Today, in 2026, my practive has expanded well beyond where it began, I offer traditional Hand and Foot Reflexology, Full-body Reflexology Alignements, Reiki, and other holistic wellness services and products.

When I look back, it’s pretty amazing to me that all this started with me being a mom who was simply searching for another option for her son. I followed that curiousity, kept learning, and evenutally discovered a path that became so much bigger than I ever imagined.

And maybe that’s one of the biggest lessons my jouney has taught me: it’s never to late to decide what you want to be when you grow up.

Sometimes you have to live a little, experience a few twists and turns, and discover what truly lights you up before you find a path.

I went back to school in my late 30’s, during a major transistion in my life, and found something I never knew I was looking for. What began with a mother wanting to help her family became a passion, a career, and a business that continues to grow and evolve. today.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Definitely not always a smooth road. There have been plenty of twists, turns and moments when I’ve had to remind myself why I started this in the first place.

I actually started my business working out of my home. Even before I was completely booked with clients, I felt a strong desire to create more separation between my business and my home life. In September of 2017, I took what felt like a huge leap and bgan subletting a room at Lebanon Valley Massage in Annville, Pennsylvania. Where my business is still located today.

It meant taking on a lot more overhead before I necessarily had a full schedule to support it, and finacially, it was a big step. But emotionally, it was incredibly empowering.

Over the years, there have definitely been financial challenges. When you’re a client-based business, having people fill your schedule is a huge part of keeping things moving. I’ve experienced cancellations, lost beloved clients who passed away, and times with rising costs caused clients to spacetheir appointments further apart. But, I’ve also experienced times when I was overbooking myself and had to learn that I couldn’t alwasy say yes to everyone.

That was a difficult lesson, especially when it meant that someone I cared about might have to wait a little longer for an appointment. I’ve had to learn that setting boundaries with my schedule isn’t about caring less about my clients. It’s about creating the balance I need so I can continue to show up fully and do the work I love without buring myself out. And just when I think my schedule may be too full again, a slowdown can show back up. You have to be able to handle the changing of current as a business owner, and learn to move with it rather than fight against it.

There are also challenges that aren’t always visible from the outside when you own a small business. Unlike traditional employment, I don’t have employer provided health insurance, retirement benifits, paid time off, or a guaranteed paycheck. Those things I have to plan and provied for myself, which adds another layer of financial uncertainty and responsibility.

There have been seasons when I have questioned myself and weighed the scales, wondering if I needed to change things up. I’ve had to learn not only how to serve my clients, but how to run a business, market myself, manage expsnses, keep growing as a person, and adapt when things don’t go according to plan.

I’ve also learned that running a business requires just as much inner work as it does practical work. I personally use positive affirmations, prayer, and meditation to help keep myself in a place of belief in myself, in my abilities, and in the value of what I offer. I fully believe health is body, mind and spirit.

Working so closely with people has taught me a lot about myself, too. Because I’m naturally empathetic, I’ve had to learn how to stay grounded and compassionate without taking on everyone else’s emotions and experiences as my own. Learning to have healthy boundaries has been a big part of my personal growth.

I’ve also learned that not every client is the right fit for me, and that’s okay. Early on, I think I felt like I needed to be everything for everyone. Over time, I’ve learned that honoring my own boundaries actually allows me to be more present and genuine with the people I am meant to work with.

I’ve had to learn to keep moving forward even when I don’t have all the answers.

Looking back, I think some of my biggest struggles have actually helped me become a stronger business owner and a stronger person. They’ve taught me resilience, adaptability, boundaries, and the importance of believing in myself even when things aren’t going exactly the way I orginally hoped.

So no, it hasn’t been a smooth road. But I don’t think it’s supposed to be. The bumps, unexpected turns, and challenges have all becomoe part of my story, and I am still here, still learning, still growing, and still excited about where the road will take me next.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Envison Awaken?
My business is Envision Awaken, and I offer holistic wellness services that are centered around helping people reconnect with themselvees and create space for greater balance, relaxation, and personal growth.

My services include tradtional Hand and Foot Reflexology, Full-body Reflexology Alignments, Reiki, Emotional Imbalance Release, and Aromatouch Technique sessions.

Reflexology is a big part of my practice, and I often work with clients who come in with foot concernes such as plantar fasciitis, neuroapathy, or general foot discomfort. But for me, reflexology has never been about focusing on one foot issue. I look at the person as a whole and the experience they hare having in their body and in their life. Reflexology is about so much more than just the foot, it is a map to your whole body.

The whole person, body, mind and spirit, is really at the heart of what I do.

One area I especially enjoy expanding on is Reiki. for me, Reiki isn’t simply about the session itself. I believe our mindset and the words we repeatedly tell ourselves can play an important role in how we experinece our lives. Because of that, I incorporate personalized scripting and positive affirmations into my Reiki sessions.

I like helping clients create words and intentions that feel meaningful to them, as something they can continue to use after they leave my office. Whether they’re looking to cultivate more confidence, inner peace, strength, clarity, or a greater sense of connection with themselves, I believe there is value in intentionally focusing on what we want to create and experience.

That philosophy is also where my buisness tagline comes from : “Be empowered to attract your authentic life.” To me, it’s about encouraging people to become more aware of who they are, what they want, and what feels authentic to them, while giving themselves permission to grow and make changes along the way.

I’m especially proud that my business has continued to evolve with me. What I offer today is very different from where I started, and I don’t feel like I am finished growing yet. I’m always learning, exploring new ideas, and finding ways to make the experience I provide more meaningful for myself and my clients.

Ultimately, I want Envision Awaken to be a place where people can slow down, reconnect with themselves, feel safe and take care of more than just one part of who they are. For me, true wellness is about the whole of us, body, mind and spirit.

Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
There are so many people who deserve credit for the journey I’ve been on. I may be the one who owns and runs my business, but I certainly didn’t get here alone.

My spouse, has been a big part of my jouney and has supported me through the many ups and downs that come with owning a business. Building something of your own takes a lot of time, energy, and emotional investment, and having someone beside you through all of that means a lot.

My parents deserve a very speical thank you. When I went back to school, I was traveling out of state on weekends to attend classes while raising my children. They helped with kids and made it possible for me to pursue my educcation without having to choose between being there for my family and investing in my future. I don’t know that I could have done it without them.

And my kids deserve credit, too. They grew up alongside this journey. They expereinced the weekends when Mom was away at school, the changes that came with starting and growing a business, and all the seasons of figuring things out along the way. Now that they’re adults, it’s really special to see them still be part of it. My kids and their friends will often come help me at vendor events, whether it’s setting things up, helping at my table, or just being there when I need an extra set of hands. Having my kids involved in my business in that way means a lot to me.

I’ve also been incredibly fortunate to have and make so many friends who have cheered me on, listened when I needed to vent, celebrated my successes, encouraged me when I doubted myself, and reminded me of who I am when I needed it.

My clients deserve a huge amount of credit too. They have trusted me with their time, their stories, and their experiences. Many have contintued coming back over the years, referred their friends and loved ones, and supported me as my business has evolved. Many even take time out to stop by vendor events just to say hi when they see me, and those little moments mean more to me than they probably realize. It reminds me that relationships I’ve built through my buisiness are about so much more than an appointment.

And I absolutely have to give credit to the team at Lebanon Valley Massage. It’s a woman-owned business, and it has become so much more than simply the place where I have my office. It’s a fun loving, sometimes completely silly space filled with women who support one another, laugh togther, pull the occasional prank, and genuinely enjoy being around each other. I actually look forward to going to work and spending time there, and I think that’s pretty special.

When I think about all of these people, I realize that support doesn’t always look like someone directly helping you build your business. Sometimes it’s someone believing in you when you’re struggling to believe in yourself, or friend reminding you that you are appreciated. Sometimes it’s a parent helping with the kids so you can pursue a dream, a friend cheering you on, a client filling an appointment or sharing a post, or simply having people around you who make the journey more enjoyable.

I’ve been blessed to have a lot of people in my corner, and I’m genuinely grateful for every one of them
