Today we’d like to introduce you to Doug Ripley.
Hi Doug, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My story started a little over a year ago with my business. I’ve been in the telecommunications industry for about 9 years. Where I live there is only one option for internet, so I looked into Starlink. I got it and hooked it up and it worked great! So I had the idea in my head as I was doing it, maybe I can start my own business and hook up Starlink for customers, they don’t have installers for it in Pennsylvania. Then it came time for a name……what will my business name be? Then it came to me…Ripleys Link it or Not LLC! My last name is Ripley and all of my life all I heard whenever someone asked me my name was “oh believe it or not!” Followed by laughs! I hated it as a kid and even more so as a teenager. As I got older it was starting to be funny and more enjoyable. I even told my wife before we got married to get use to people doing that because it will always happen without fail! So I incorporated it into my business. I started doing just installing starlink then someone asked if I did other things like wall mount TVs, set up WiFi extenders and other smart technologies. So I expanded my services and here we are! You’re local smart tech expert! I would also like to add that I didn’t do this alone, my wife Krista has been with me throughout all this. Her love and support has been a huge help in my journey! She helped me start the business and even goes on jobs with me to help out in anyway she can. Her hard work and dedication has been a huge inspiration to me!
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
At first it went ok, I was getting some business here and there like any new business would. Then business started to die down. Once spring hit business started to go back up. I learned that reviews are everything. They are what people look for. I wasn’t asking for reviews, so I started to ask and I have great reviews on my
Facebook and yelp business page! It has definitely helped along with word of mouth. One other thing I learned was don’t do much AI advertising! I wasn’t asking doing AI advertising nonstop and it didn’t help at all! Then I started to make my own with me and my work that I’ve done and highlighting my reviews.

I am Doug Ripley owner of Ripley’s Link it or Not LLC. I provide expert Starlink internet installation, tv wall mounting services, smart home installations, WiFi expansion, and any smart device setups. I even help help with setting up GPS dog collars and trainings for it! As our motto starts “We are the smarter way to link up!” What sets us apart from others is our local, professional , and honest tech policy! Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
The quality I feel that is most important is our honest tech policy. I want my customers to know they have a professional at their home that provides honest, reliable service, that we will take our time to make sure they have everything they need.
