Today we’d like to introduce you to Courtney Gondringer.
Hi Courtney, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
After more than 15 years working in the admin side of healthcare, I reached a point where I knew the corporate world was no longer where I belonged. It wasn’t always kind to me, and I realized that if I was going to work hard, I wanted to work hard for myself.
Starting my business gave me the opportunity to create a career on my own terms. Today, my goal is bigger than simply working for myself. I want to create a space where other women, especially moms, feel supported in building work that fits their lives, allows them to contribute to their households, and doesn’t require them to choose between their families and their ambitions.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has definitely not been a smooth road. I left the security of my corporate job to pursue this dream, which meant taking a hard look at our household budget and making sacrifices along the way. I work longer hours, and sometimes harder than I ever did in corporate. The difference is I am building something for me and my family.
One of my biggest challenges is overcoming imposter syndrome. I still have to remind myself every day that I am capable, experienced, and worthy of the opportunities I’m creating. I continue to show up because the life and business I’m working toward are worth it.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m a social media strategist, and I help business owners take social media off their already full plates. I create strategies and content that sound like them, connect with their audience, and support their business goals. I’m not interested in posting just to post or jumping on every trend. I want the content to have a purpose and still feel genuine.
After more than 15 years in healthcare administration, I bring a lot of organization, communication, and problem solving into my work. I also truly care about the people I work with. I take the time to learn their business, understand what they need, and figure out how I can make their lives a little easier.
I’m most proud that I took the chance on myself and built this business from the ground up. It hasn’t been easy, and I’m still learning as I go, but it’s mine. I also hope to grow it into a space where other women and moms can do meaningful work, contribute to their households, and still have the flexibility their families need.
We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
Funny enough, for someone who now works in social media, my favorite childhood memories involve no technology at all. I loved spending time on my Pap’s farm, where we had to use our imaginations and come up with new ways to entertain ourselves. We were simply allowed to be kids. We got to explore, create, get dirty, and make our own fun. Some of my best memories came from those ordinary days.
