Hidden Gems: Meet Joseph Martin of Ascension Healings

Today we’d like to introduce you to Joseph Martin.

Hi Joseph, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started out as a U.S. Army veteran who was medically discharged after a training accident left me with chronic back pain. When I went to the VA, the response was basically a black book of symptoms and a stack of prescriptions. I left with five or six new bottles and almost no answers about the actual root of the problem. The pills made me feel worse, so I stopped most of them and started looking for something better.

That search led me to yoga (almost by accident through P90X), then meditation, and eventually a deeper spiritual path. Around 2012–2013 I began questioning a lot of what I had been taught and diving into energy, consciousness, and alternative healing. In 2021 everything accelerated. During a past-life regression session, my guardian angel, Archangel Ariah, came through. Shortly after, I received a healing gift. From that point forward my life shifted completely—from someone managing pain with pills to someone who no longer needed any pharmaceutical pain management at all.

My wife Jennifer and I have walked this path together. We’ve used energy healing, fasting, yoga, and the tools we’ve learned to support our own healing (including her journey with cancer) and to help others. That work became Ascension Healings, based in Monroeville, Pennsylvania. Today I am a licensed minister, Level 2 certified Quantum Healing Hypnosis Technique (QHHT) practitioner, and the author of the three-volume Ascension Guide series. We offer QHHT, past-life regression, Reiki/energy healing, and spiritual coaching—helping people release blocks, reconnect with their higher selves, and take real ownership of their mind, body, and spirit.

The short version is that I went from a soldier relying on the medical system to a healer who believes the body already knows how to heal itself when given the right conditions. Everything I do now—sessions, books, coaching—is about helping other people remember that same truth and step into it.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No, it has not been a smooth road.

The biggest early struggle was physical. After the Army injury I lived with chronic back pain for nearly a decade. The VA’s answer was more prescriptions. I hated how the pills made me feel, so I stopped most of them and had to figure out another way. Learning to trust yoga, fasting, and energy work enough to completely walk away from pain medication took time and a lot of trial and error.

Then came the spiritual side. When the channeling and healing gift first opened up in 2021, it was intense and often confusing. I had to learn how to protect my energy, tell the difference between genuine guidance and interference, and keep my vibration high while still living in the regular world. There were periods of real doubt, fear, and feeling like I was going crazy. The negative forces Ariah warned me about were not abstract, they showed up as mental attacks, setbacks, and moments of heavy doubt.

Money was another constant pressure. When Jennifer and I fully stepped into this work, neither of us was earning a traditional income. We had to trust that if we kept following the guidance we would be taken care of. That trust was tested hard during our 2022 cross-country healing trip. We left Pennsylvania with very little financial cushion. On the first night we blew a tire on the highway, spent hours waiting for a tow that never came, called 911, and ended up spending money we didn’t really have just to get back on the road. It felt like a direct test of whether we were actually willing to keep going when things got uncomfortable.

Jennifer’s own health crisis (her cancer diagnosis and healing journey) added another layer of intensity. Supporting her while still learning how to use these new abilities, writing the books, and trying to help others was emotionally and energetically demanding.

Building a practice around modalities that many people still dismiss as “woo-woo” has its own challenges too. There is the practical side of running a business and the personal side of putting yourself out there when part of you still wonders how you’ll be received.

Every one of those obstacles ended up becoming part of the teaching. The pain taught me what actually works for the body. The spiritual attacks forced me to get serious about energy protection and discernment. The financial tests strengthened our faith. And walking through Jennifer’s healing with her deepened both our compassion and our conviction that this work matters. So no, it has not been smooth. But the struggles have been the exact curriculum we needed.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Ascension Healings?
Ascension Healings is the practice my wife Jennifer and I built together in Monroeville, Pennsylvania. We help people heal on a deep level—physically, emotionally, and spiritually—so they can reconnect with their true selves and move forward with more clarity and peace.

What we do centers around a few core offerings:

Quantum Healing Hypnosis Technique (QHHT) – This is my primary specialty. As a Level 2 certified practitioner, I guide clients into a deep hypnotic state where they can access past lives, the subconscious, and their Higher Self for insight, healing, and answers that regular talk therapy often can’t reach.

Past Life Regression

Reiki / Energy Healing – Jennifer is a certified Usui and Holy Fire Reiki Master. We work together to give what the client needs.

Spiritual Coaching – Practical, grounded guidance for people navigating awakening, life transitions, or feeling stuck in old patterns.

What sets us apart is the combination of lived experience and modalities. I came into this work after years of chronic pain and frustration with the conventional medical system. Jennifer brought her own powerful healing journey, including overcoming cancer and multiple near death experiences. That personal foundation shapes everything we do. We’re not just practitioners—we’ve walked the hard parts ourselves. Clients often tell us they feel safe because we meet them without judgment and without trying to force a particular belief system on them.

Brand-wise, I’m most proud of the integrity we’ve protected and the resources we’ve built to support people beyond individual sessions. That includes The Ascension Framework™, our clear and practical map for navigating spiritual awakening at every stage, and The Ascension Library, which houses the Ascension Guide book series, guided meditations, tools, and carefully chosen resources that help people continue the work on their own. Together they form a complete ecosystem of support rather than just one-off services.

What I most want readers to know is this: if you feel stuck, if you’re going through a spiritual awakening and it feels messy, or if you’ve tried traditional routes and still sense there’s a deeper layer that needs attention, there is support available. You don’t have to figure it all out alone. We offer a grounded, compassionate place to do that work—whether through a single session or a longer journey with us.

Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
Yes—several things.

First, you don’t have to have it all figured out before you begin. Start where you are, with what you have, and let the path reveal itself as you walk it.

Second, protect your energy early. I wish I had taken this more seriously from the beginning. When you open up spiritually, you also become more sensitive. Learning basic protection, grounding, and discernment isn’t optional—it’s essential. Not everything that presents itself as light actually is.

Third, trust is a muscle. There were many moments, especially early on and during our cross-country trip, when logic and fear said turn around. The guidance kept saying, “Wherever you are is exactly where you need to be.” Learning to trust that—even when the bank account was low or the tire was flat—was one of the biggest lessons. The more you practice trusting and taking the next small step, the stronger that muscle becomes.

Fourth, do your own healing work. It’s easy to get excited about helping others and skip the hard, personal stuff. The more I cleaned up my own pain, beliefs, and energy, the clearer the guidance became and the more effective I was with clients. You can’t take people further than you’ve been willing to go yourself.

Finally, stay grounded. Spiritual work is powerful, but it still has to live in a human body, in regular life, with bills and relationships and imperfect days. Keep one foot in the practical world. Laugh. Rest. Touch the earth. Don’t make the journey heavier than it needs to be.

If I could go back and tell my earlier self one thing, it would be this: You’re not behind, and you’re not crazy. Keep going. The path gets clearer the further you walk it.
