Today we’d like to introduce you to Leanna Cameron.
Hi Leanna, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Nineteen years ago, my life changed forever. I lost my twin sister, Alissa, in a tragic hit‑and‑run. We were only twenty. One moment we were college students dreaming about our futures, and the next, I was standing in the aftermath of something no one should ever have to witness. The trauma stayed with me, quietly shaping my life until it surfaced years later as PTSD.
I promised her I would keep going — that I would live my life for the both of us. That promise became my compass.
But grief wasn’t done with us.
Exactly one year later, on the same day, we lost my father — the patriarch of our family. Losing my twin and my father within a single year felt like losing the ground beneath my feet. My mother, my older sister Amanda, my younger brother Ian, and I had to learn how to navigate life without one‑third of our family. We were broken, but we held onto each other. We had no roadmap for that kind of loss — only love, faith, and the determination to keep moving.
I carry both my sister and my father with me every single day.
And even now, my siblings are part of the strength that keeps me going.
Amanda, my older sister, has always reminded me of my resilience and perseverance. She sees the strength in me even when I struggle to see it myself. She has this way of grounding me, of reminding me that I’ve survived the unimaginable — and that I can survive whatever comes next.
My brother Ian, in his own steady way, has always believed I can handle anything placed on my plate. His confidence in me has carried me through some of my hardest seasons.
And then, in 2010, something extraordinary happened.
My son Brady was born — and he gave me a new purpose, a new meaning, a new reason to breathe again. In so many ways, he “saved” me. He brought light back into places that had been dark for years. His arrival reminded me that life could still be beautiful, that joy could still exist alongside grief. Brady became the spark that reignited my hope. In 2020, our family was blessed again with our sweet Allie — the perfect addition who brings us endless joy, smiles, and love. She is sunshine in human form, and her presence completed our family in a way I didn’t even know was missing. Brady gave me purpose, and Allie gave me light.
Despite everything, I pushed forward. I finished my undergraduate degree in 2010 in entrepreneurship, marketing, and business management at the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford. I earned my Master’s in Integrated Marketing Communications from St. Bonaventure University and spent six weeks studying at the University of Oxford’s Trinity College in the United Kingdom — an experience that expanded my understanding of leadership, resilience, and purpose.
In 2021, while working as a director in the healthcare field, I felt a shift. I knew I was meant to do something more — something that honored the people I lost and helped others heal. I returned to Oxford for a post‑graduate professional certificate through the Oxford Executive Leadership Programme at Saïd Business School. It was there, surrounded by global leaders and deep reflection, that the idea for Levitate Float Spa was born.
I wanted to transform my pain into purpose.
I wanted to create a sanctuary for healing — mentally, physically, emotionally.
I wanted to help people reset their nervous systems, soften their trauma, and find peace again.
The more I learned about float therapy, sensory deprivation, and the profound healing effects on the mind, body, and soul, the more certain I became that this was my calling. Levitate wasn’t just a business idea — it was a mission. A way to honor Alissa. A way to honor my father. A way to give people what I desperately needed during my own healing journey.
And when fear crept in — fear of failing, fear of starting something new, fear of stepping into the unknown — my husband Josh was the one who reminded me of my strength. He encouraged me not to let fear stand in the way of following my dream. He believed in Levitate before it existed. He believed in me. His support helped me take the leap.
I opened Levitate Float Spa in October 2023, and it has become a true oasis for personal transformation. We’ve built strong professional and medical partnerships throughout the region — chiropractic care, pain management, mental health providers, the VA for veterans healing from PTSD, pregnancy support, student athletes, busy parents, and professionals who are burning themselves out. I am a fierce advocate for not just physical recovery, but for mental health and nervous system regulation. Healing is not a luxury — it’s essential.
Levitate now offers float therapy, an oxygen bar, a zero‑gravity massage chair, and exclusive partnerships with So Smooth Electrolysis and Reiki with Jeff Hendryx. We also accept HSA and FSA cards, making healing more accessible for our community.
And I’ll be honest — running a business while raising two kids isn’t easy. There were moments when I questioned whether I was truly making a difference. When you’re pouring your heart into something day after day, it’s natural to wonder if it’s reaching people the way you hope it is.
But God always sends reminders through people.
One of those people is my coworker, Denae. On the days when the weight felt heavy — the days when I was stretched thin, tired, or doubting myself — she would walk right up to me, wrap her arms around me, and give me the hug I didn’t even realize I needed. If it wasn’t her it was my Mom coming to hug and encourage me or my best friend Meghan calling me to remind me to keep going.
Then one day, my niece, Lillianna — who had moved three hours away — called me out of the blue. She told me she had nominated me as her role model. She said she had looked up to me since she was little, and that I always made her feel like she was doing good enough in life.
I could have any accolade in the world, but nothing humbled me more than that moment.
It stopped me in my tracks.
It reminded me that God was using me in ways I didn’t even know.
And it was the confirmation I didn’t realize I needed — that the way I live, love, and lead matters.
My family — my mother, siblings, my husband Josh, my son Brady who is now almost sixteen, and my daughter Allie who is six — are my strength. They are my reason. They are the light that kept me moving forward when the nights were long and the grief felt heavy.
And my mother… she has been my anchor.
She didn’t just support me — she understood me in a way only a mother who has lived the same grief could. She felt the same losses, the same heartbreak, the same empty spaces left behind by my twin and my father. She knew what it meant to wake up every day and carry grief in one hand and hope in the other. She knew how important it was for me to build this dream, because she knew healing wasn’t just something I wanted — it was something I needed. Through every tear, every late night, every moment of doubt, every unknown that comes with being a business owner, she stood beside me from day one. She helps me run the spa and helps me believe in myself when the weight of responsibility feels overwhelming. She helped me build Levitate from the ground up because she believed in the mission as deeply as I did. — because she knew Levitate wasn’t just a business. It was a lifeline. It was purpose.
Levitate Float Spa is more than a spa.
It is a sanctuary.
A place where people come to release stress, reduce pain, calm inflammation, reconnect with themselves, reset their nervous system and feel whole again.
Every day, I carry my sister and my father with me.
Every person who walks through our doors becomes part of the legacy I built in their honor.
Levitate is my love letter to healing — for myself, for my family, for Alissa, for my father, and for the community I care so deeply about.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Being a business owner in a small town like Bradford comes with its own unique set of challenges. We are a community with incredible heart, but many people here have lower incomes and can’t always afford wellness services like float therapy — even though they’re often the ones who need it most. That has been one of my biggest struggles: knowing how deeply these services can help people heal, and wishing I had more resources to make them accessible to everyone.
I’ve often wished I had access to more grants or funding so I could subsidize sessions, offer community programs, or create low‑cost healing opportunities for people who are struggling. My dream has always been to help as many people as possible experience the benefits of nervous system regulation, trauma relief, pain reduction, and mental wellness — regardless of their financial situation.
To open Levitate, I had to take out an SBA loan, and that has been a heavy weight to carry. Balancing loan payments, lease costs, utilities, supplies, and trying to pay myself a modest paycheck has been a constant challenge. There are months where I have to choose between paying myself or reinvesting back into the spa. There are moments where the financial pressure feels overwhelming.
But every time I start to doubt, I remind myself why I started Levitate.
I remind myself of the people who walk through my doors in tears, in pain, in burnout, in trauma — and leave feeling lighter, calmer, and more whole.
I remind myself of the mission, the purpose, the legacy behind this spa.
And I remind myself to have faith that the growth will continue to accelerate.
Levitate was built from love, loss, resilience, and a desire to help people heal. Even on the hardest days, that purpose keeps me moving forward.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?

Levitate Float Spa is where science meets serenity — and where your healing journey truly begins.
Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
The quality that has been most important to my success is resilience — the ability to keep moving forward, even when life has knocked me down in ways I never imagined. Losing my twin sister and my father within a year forced me to rebuild myself from the ground up. That kind of loss changes you. It teaches you how to bend without breaking, how to breathe through pain, and how to find purpose in places that once felt empty.
Resilience is what allowed me to pursue my education, raise my children, and step into leadership roles even while carrying grief. It’s what gave me the courage to open Levitate Float Spa in a small town where resources are limited and wellness services aren’t always accessible. It’s what keeps me going when financial challenges arise, when I wish I had more funding or grants to help more people, or when I’m juggling an SBA loan, lease payments, utilities, and trying to pay myself.
But resilience isn’t something I carry alone.
My mother’s strength has shaped mine. She lived the same losses I did, and she has stood beside me through every tear, every late night, every unknown. She helps me run the spa and reminds me why this mission matters.
Resilience is woven into every part of my story, but it’s also held up by the people who love me.
It’s the reason Levitate exists.
It’s the reason I keep going.
And it’s the reason I believe healing — for myself and for my community — is always possible.
