Today we’d like to introduce you to Carol Weis.
Hi Carol, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My Dad was into photography as a hobby, so I grew up with a camera in my hands. I took Art in college with Photography as a minor, and fell in love with photography. I felt and still do feel , it’s ‘ instant Art’. The idea of capturing a moment in time and preserving it is very meaningful to me. I did Children’s photography in a mall for a few years, then Wedding photography for many years and now I enjoy portraiture, head shots and commercial product work.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Covid made everything difficult. It was during and after that when I settled on more one on one work, doing portraits and head shots. It was like starting all over again.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I believe each person is unique, and each portrait I do is unique to that individual. I balance lighting to flatter each person’s features, and take time to get them at the best angle. The expression and the eyes are the most important part of a portrait.
I approached my wedding work that way as well- I always made sure the images reflected the personalities of the couple involved.
Photography is a craft and a vocation to me. People are trusting me and inviting me into their personal space and I consider that an honor.
