Today we’d like to introduce you to Eve Jolo.
Hi Eve, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I am a West African immigrant that came here with my family in 2002. At a young age we moved here from Guinea. My family is Liberian, I had to adapt to the American culture and society from school, social groups and everyday living. I knew at a young age I was interested in the arts and entertainment. Growing up I used to choreograph dance routines with my friends for local events, sing in my school choir and even did a local African pageant representing my country. Fast forward in 2022 I had some set backs that inspired me to look at the brighter side of life and pour into my artistry, ever since then I’ve been motivated to create and make music that is healing fun and tells a little bit of a story of who I am and the struggles I’ve been through emotionally mentally and romantically.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
No it haven’t, I’ve had some ups and downs with being a single mom, living paycheck to paycheck and not knowing exactly where I saw myself in the future also battling mental health issues that was a bit of a set back, but lead me to be the creative mind that I am today.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I work in health care it’s been a dream of mine to help others and impact the lives of others. Right now I’m into music, I love to write whether it be poems, songs, articles. I love being a voice of reason no matter how it’s portrayed or told artistically. I am proud of the mom that I am and becoming my daughter holds a special place in my heart and is my motivation to being the powerful and strong woman I am.
Any big plans?
My future plans include collaborating with different artists and finding my community who ever and what ever that may look like. I plan to grow as an individual and learn from my past mistakes, failures and set backs. No major changes maybe doing a lot more shows getting my music out there and trying to build a bigger following than what I currently have stars the limit.
