Today we’d like to introduce you to Kara Clouser.
Hi Kara, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My love for photography began when I was a teenager and has only grown over the years. That passion led me to study photography at HACC before transferring to the University of the Arts, where I earned my Bachelor of Fine Arts degree.
After graduation, I worked as an advertising photographer for The Patriot-News while also freelancing with Conte Photography. In 2010, I was honored to join Conte Photography full-time, and in 2016, I was given the incredible opportunity to purchase the business.
What started as a passion has grown into a career I truly love, and this September, I’ll proudly celebrate 10 years as the owner of Conte Photography.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. While I was fortunate to work for the business before purchasing it and already had an established client base, becoming a business owner came with an entirely new set of challenges. I had to learn how to run a business, manage cash flow, and navigate how—and where—to market myself, all while building meaningful relationships within the community.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I love capturing the essence of people through my photography and creating images that feel authentic, meaningful, and timeless. One of the things I value most about my work is versatility. I enjoy adapting my style to fit each client’s unique personality, vision, and needs, blending creativity with technical skill to deliver beautiful, polished results.
From the heartfelt moments of weddings and portrait sessions to professional headshots and dynamic corporate events, I approach every session with fresh eyes and a commitment to telling each story in a genuine way.
What matters most to me goes beyond simply taking great photos. I believe the real magic happens in the connections I build with the people I photograph. Taking the time to understand your story allows me to create images that reflect who you are and preserve the emotions, relationships, and memories that matter most.
My approach is down-to-earth, flexible, and professional. Whether you’re celebrating a major milestone, growing your business, or simply wanting to preserve this season of life, I’m honored to help capture those moments here in Central Pennsylvania and beyond.
What does success mean to you?
Success means creating a business that is sustainable. One that keeps the doors open, pays the bills, and allows me to continue doing work I genuinely love. Being able to support my family while pursuing my passion for photography is something I never take for granted.
