Today we’d like to introduce you to John Maielli.
Hi John, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I started in 1987 working for my wife’s cousin and after a few years I was getting enough work on the side I started my own business. I learned how to paint in commercial and residential. I also learned to wall paper. From there we just grew. There were some ups and downs, some good years and bad years but we struggled through them.
I have four boys and they all worked for me at some point or another and one of them (Christopher) has ben with me for about 5 years now and eventually going to take over.
We still do interior and exterior work and lately have been doing more wall paper.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I took different paths along the way but there was always a connection to Painting. I owned a t-shirt printing business at one time but still painted on the side. I was managing a business in Pittsburgh where we painted bathtubs and counter tops, but I still painted on the side. So we had struggles but we managed to make it through.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I have been doing wallpaper for almost 40 years now and love it. I’ve hung all kinds of paper in all kinds of places. I used to paint murals for customers also.
