Today we’d like to introduce you to Jodi Anderson.
Hi Jodi, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I fell in love with film photography in high school and was somewhat dubious when the digital age arrived. Editing won me over and I still love working in photoshop. Wedding photography was my perfect fit. I love the rhythm of a wedding day. Fast paced, full cast and amazing dance floors. When a friend prompted me to photograph the wedding of her elderly father I photographed so many moments filled with genuine emotion that I was hooked. I discovered a love of not only photographing wedding day moments but also of supporting and caring for my couples. Learning from other wedding photographers was a key piece of my education. I mentored with successful wedding photographers and tried to learn from the best.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Lancaster county is home to so many wedding venues and has a high volume of wedding photographers. It’s a competitive area. It is also challenging to navigate how much to invest my profits in new equipment and what will be most beneficial to business growth.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I love portrait work and pulling genuine expressions and experiences from my subjects. I love a natural light setting, but enjoy creative flash work as well. I bring both to a wedding day and feel confident shooting even in difficult lighting scenarios.
Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
When not photographing weddings, I am obsessed with macro photography. I love walking through the woods looking for mushrooms, moss and seedlings. There is something magical about exploring something small from a different perspective.
