Today we’d like to introduce you to Kathy Monte.
Hi Kathy, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
This is my 15th year in the event planning and Floral Design industry I started by designing my nieces wedding and have never looked back. The first number of years I just did wedding planning and added Florals in at year three. It made sense to do both as I was onsite all day. At this point, Wedding Floral Design is about 85% of my business.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road has been bumpy at times. There were many, very lean years, especially during the COVID-19 shutdowns. because there could not be large gatherings of any type I started doing direct sales of Floral out of my garage and people rallied to support me. Without them, I wouldn’t be where I am today.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am an event planner, and floral designer . I think if I had to narrow it down, I am known for lush, whimsical, very colorful and bold designs. I think I am most proud of the growth of this business and how far I’ve come in 15 years. When I started this, I thought it would be really nice to do five or six weddings a year. Now I typically do between 30 and 38 weddings a year. I think what sets me apart is that I do both the planning and the Floral Design ends of the business which allows for a seamless and very well executed event.
Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
My immediate and ongoing communication throughout the planning process . My attention to detail.
