Rising Stars: Meet Sharon Johnson of Pennsylvania

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sharon Johnson.

Hi Sharon, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My entrepreneurial journey began during the chaos of COVID-19, right in the middle of a job transition. In that uncertain time, I found myself reflecting on my next steps. A conversation with a project manager sparked a revelation: my extensive knowledge of healthcare could translate into consulting. Offering the expertise I have garnered for businesses as a service. Although I had considered becoming an independent consultant before, the timing wasn’t right. This time, I was ready for a boutique consulting firm.

In May 2021, I launched TRAYNE51 Strategy & Consulting, LLC, marking my first step into entrepreneurship. Fast forward five years, and another change emerged: NHisImage Designs, LLC, a retail start-up offering Christian apparel and gifts, fueled by my faith. Both ventures are rooted in faith-driven entrepreneurship, blending passion with God’s purpose.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Building my business has been quite the adventure, filled with lessons that no textbook could have prepared me for. When I set out to establish my consulting business, the initial setup felt almost like a breeze. However, I quickly learned that the real challenges began once I ventured into the world of networking and client acquisition—two vital components that aren’t often emphasized in business school.

I still remember my first networking event. I walked in feeling equal parts excited and nervous, like a new student on the first day of school. But as the evening unfolded, I realized that every connection I made was akin to planting a seed. Each conversation had the potential to bloom into invaluable opportunities. I learned that strategic networking was more than just exchanging business cards; it was about building genuine relationships rooted in trust. Relationships truly matter in the world of boutique consulting.

But it hasn’t all been smooth sailing. I’m still navigating the waters of client retention, striving to turn those initial projects into ongoing collaborations. It’s a learning curve, but I find that each interaction teaches me something new about maintaining strong client relationships.

Marketing has been another fascinating journey. I’ve embraced social media as a platform for content creation, allowing me to share my insights and connect with a broader audience. It’s an ever-evolving process that keeps me on my toes.

Reflecting on this journey, I realize that every experience, each connection, and even the challenges have been essential to my growth. It’s not just about the service I provide; it’s about the relationships I cultivate, nurture, and the trust I build. That’s the heart of my consulting business, and I’m excited to see where this path leads next.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
