Hi Firas, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I founded Pittsburgh Design & Engineering Services after spending years working in various areas of engineering, construction, fabrication, and consulting. Throughout my career, I noticed that many property owners needed an independent engineering expert they could trust—someone who would provide honest guidance and help them understand their options rather than sell them a product or repair. What started as a vision to offer practical, unbiased structural engineering services has grown into a trusted firm serving homeowners, real estate professionals, contractors, and developers throughout the Pittsburgh region. I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Like most businesses, the journey hasn’t always been a smooth road. One of the biggest challenges was building trust and awareness in a market where many clients only need a structural engineer a few times in their lives. Early on, much of our growth came through networking, referrals, and consistently delivering high-quality work that clients felt confident recommending to others.
Another challenge has been balancing growth while maintaining the level of responsiveness and personal attention that clients expect. As demand increased, we worked hard to develop processes that allowed us to scale without sacrificing service quality.
