Today we’d like to introduce you to Lauren Zajac MHS, PA-C, AFMCP.
Hi Lauren , we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I’m a board-certified Physician Assistant, and throughout my 21 year career I kept seeing the same pattern: women were experiencing real, disruptive symptoms, but were often told their labs were “normal” or that what they were feeling was simply part of getting older.
I wanted to offer a different kind of care—one that takes the time to listen, looks at the full picture, and combines conventional medicine with a more root-cause, individualized approach. That led me to create Balance & Blossom Wellness, where I focus on helping women navigate perimenopause, menopause, thyroid concerns, stress, metabolism, and other interconnected hormone issues.
What started as a desire to help women feel heard has grown into a practice centered on whole-person hormone care, education, and long-term support. My goal is for every woman I work with to better understand her body, feel confident in her options, and know that she does not have to simply accept feeling unwell.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It has definitely not been a completely smooth road. Building a practice from the ground up has meant stepping outside the traditional healthcare system with its predictable paycheck and resources, and learning how to be both a medical provider and a business owner at the same time.
One of the biggest challenges has been creating a different model of care in a system that often prioritizes short appointments and symptom management. I knew women needed more time, more education, and a more comprehensive approach, but communicating the value of that model—and building trust—has taken time.
There have also been the practical challenges of entrepreneurship: navigating regulations, managing the business side of the practice, wearing many different hats, and learning through trial and error.
Despite those challenges, each struggle has helped clarify my purpose and strengthen the way I care for women. Hearing a patient say that she finally feels heard, understands what is happening in her body, or feels like herself again makes the difficult parts worthwhile.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Balance and Blossom Wellness, PLLC?
Balance & Blossom Wellness is a women’s hormone and wellness practice specializing in perimenopause, menopause, thyroid health, stress and cortisol concerns, metabolic health, and the many symptoms that can occur when these systems become unbalanced.
My approach combines conventional medicine with functional and integrative strategies. Rather than looking at one symptom or one laboratory value in isolation, I evaluate the broader picture—including hormones, thyroid function, nutrient status, sleep, stress, metabolism, medical history, and lifestyle. From there, I create an individualized and carefully sequenced plan that may include hormone therapy, thyroid treatment, targeted supplementation, nutrition and lifestyle support, or collaboration with other healthcare professionals.
What sets Balance & Blossom apart is the amount of time, education, and ongoing support built into the care model. Many women come to me after being told that their laboratory results are “normal,” that their symptoms are simply part of aging, or that they are not candidates for treatment, typically due to a lack of knowledge or comfort in prescribing by their providers. My role is not only to provide treatment options, but also to help women understand their bodies, weigh the benefits and risks of those options, and make informed decisions about their health.
I am especially proud that the brand has become associated with both clinical depth and genuine connection. Balance & Blossom was created to provide a space where women do not feel rushed, dismissed, or reduced to a checklist of symptoms. The guiding philosophy behind the practice is: **Whole Hormone Care. Real Connection. Real Results.**
Ultimately, I want readers to know that women do not have to accept feeling unlike themselves simply because they are entering a new stage of life. There are thoughtful, evidence-informed options available, and care should be individualized to the woman—not based on a one-size-fits-all protocol.
Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
Not sure what you mean, the state as a whole? The city I live in? I didn’t think this publication was geared towards a city in Pennsylvania in particular.
