Today we’d like to introduce you to Kaitlyn Unger.
Hi Kaitlyn, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I started KTU Designs LLC with a love for creativity and helping people bring their ideas to life in a way that feels clear, beautiful, and purposeful. My business began in graphic design and editorial work, but over time, I found myself drawn more and more to website design because it combines so many things I enjoy: strategy, visuals, storytelling, organization, and helping small businesses feel confident in how they show up online.
In the beginning, I took on a wide variety of projects and learned so much through each one. Like many business owners, I said yes to a lot, figured things out as I went, and slowly discovered what kind of work I was best suited for. Over the years, my business has grown and evolved into a more intentional design studio focused on custom websites, SEO, and marketing collateral for small businesses and organizations.
A big part of my journey has also been learning how to build a business that supports my life, not the other way around. I’m a wife and mom, and being able to work part-time while staying home with my children has shaped the way I approach business. I care deeply about creating excellent work, but I also care about working with clients in a thoughtful, sustainable, and relationship-centered way.
Today, KTU Designs serves clients who want more than just a pretty website. They want something strategic, professional, and true to who they are. I feel really grateful that my work allows me to use my creativity to support other business owners, nonprofits, and service providers as they grow and serve their own communities.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely has not always been a smooth road, but I think that’s true for most business owners. In the beginning, one of my biggest struggles was figuring out how to value my work properly. I loved what I was doing, but I had to learn that creativity, strategy, time, and experience all have real value. Like many entrepreneurs, I went through seasons of underpricing, overextending myself, and saying yes to projects that weren’t always the best fit.
Another challenge has been learning how to create boundaries and build a business that is sustainable for my life. I’m a wife and mom, and over time I’ve realized that success, for me, is not just about constant growth or being busy all the time. It’s about building something that allows me to serve my clients well while also being present for my family and faithful to the responsibilities God has given me.
My faith has been a steady foundation through the uncertain seasons. There have been times when I’ve had to trust God with slow seasons, hard decisions, changing priorities, and the unknowns that come with entrepreneurship. Those moments have taught me patience, humility, and dependence on Him.
There have also been the normal growing pains of running a business: learning systems, managing timelines, communicating clearly, navigating expectations, and becoming more confident in my process. But I can look back and see how God has used each challenge to refine both me and my business. The road has not always been easy, but it has been purposeful, and I’m grateful for the ways it has shaped KTU Designs into what it is today.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
KTU Designs LLC is a website, editorial, and graphic design studio. I primarily design custom websites for small businesses, nonprofits, and service-based organizations, with a focus on creating websites that are not only beautiful but strategic, organized, and easy for visitors to understand. I also offer basic branding, SEO support, and marketing collateral such as brochures, lead magnets, one-sheets, and other print or digital materials.
I specialize in helping business owners take all of the ideas, content, services, and heart behind what they do and turn it into something clear and professional. A lot of my clients come to me feeling overwhelmed by their website or unsure how to communicate what makes them different. I love helping them simplify the message, create a strong visual direction, and build an online presence that feels aligned with who they are and where they are going.
I think I’m known for being thoughtful, organized, and intentional. I care deeply about design as a whole, but I also care about the person behind the business. My goal is never just to hand someone a pretty website. I want my clients to feel seen, supported, and confident when they share their business with the world.
What I’m most proud of is the way my business has grown through relationships, referrals, and trust. Many of my clients are small business owners, ministry-minded organizations, or people doing meaningful work in their communities. It is a privilege to come alongside them and help bring their vision to life in a way that serves both them and the people they are trying to reach.
What sets KTU Designs apart is the combination of strategy, design, communication, and care. I bring a creative eye, but also a very practical and organized approach. I want each project to feel purposeful, personal, and polished. My faith also influences the way I work. I believe in serving with integrity, stewarding my gifts well, and treating each client relationship with kindness, honesty, and respect.
Do you have any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
I don’t know that I have one specific favorite childhood memory, but I do remember finding joy in the small moments. Whether I was making something or helping create a sense of comfort for the people around me, those moments felt meaningful.
I grew up taking on responsibility at a young age, and while that was not always easy, I can look back now and see how it shaped me. It taught me to be thoughtful, dependable, compassionate, and attentive to the needs of others.
I think that’s part of why I love design and serving small businesses today. I’ve always been drawn to creating order, beauty, and clarity, and I believe God has used even the difficult parts of my story to shape those gifts in me.
