Life & Work with Amanda Harrell of Pennsylvania

Today we’d like to introduce you to Amanda Harrell.

Hi Amanda, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
The story of Mandee’s Treats is really a story about community, nostalgia, family, and creating warm experiences through desserts.

Located in the heart of downtown Doylestown, Pennsylvania, Mandee’s Treats was born from a vision shared by Amanda and André — to create more than just a dessert shop. They wanted to build a warm, welcoming place where people could gather, celebrate, reconnect, and enjoy unforgettable treats together. (mandeestreats.com)

Before launching Mandee’s Treats, both Amanda and André built successful careers in the corporate world. Amanda served as a Marketing Executive, developing strong expertise in branding, customer engagement, and strategic growth. André worked as a Business Executive, bringing leadership, operational experience, and a passion for relationship-building and community impact. While both enjoyed success professionally, they shared a dream of creating something more personal — a business centered around people, happiness, and memorable experiences.

That dream became reality in late 2024 when Amanda and André became the proud new owners of the beloved dessert location formerly known as Mom’s Cookie Bar. At the time, the business had lost momentum and was struggling to reconnect with the community. Rather than simply continue the existing concept, Amanda and André saw an opportunity to completely reimagine the experience and breathe new life into the business.

Using their combined corporate backgrounds in marketing, operations, leadership, and customer engagement, they carefully transformed the business from the inside out. But more than anything, they made one thing their absolute priority: customer service and guest experience. Amanda and André believed that great desserts alone wouldn’t create long-term success — people needed to feel welcomed, appreciated, excited, and emotionally connected every time they walked through the doors.

As part of that transformation, they completely rebranded the business as “Mandee’s Treats” — a name inspired by Amanda’s childhood nickname and designed to reflect the warmth, comfort, nostalgia, and personality behind the brand. Along with the rebrand came the company’s signature tagline: “Warm Yummminess.”

“Warm Yummminess” became more than just a slogan — it became the culture and philosophy of the business. It represents the feeling Amanda and André wanted every customer to experience: warm desserts, warm hospitality, warm memories, and warm connections with family and friends. From fresh baked cookies and stuffed cookie bars to friendly conversations and community engagement, every part of the Mandee’s Treats experience was designed around making people smile and feel at home.

The rebrand quickly helped transform what had once been a struggling dessert concept into one of Doylestown’s most talked-about sweet destinations. Through elevated branding, menu innovation, consistency, social media engagement, and genuine hospitality, Mandee’s Treats built a loyal and growing following throughout Bucks County.

Today, Mandee’s Treats is known for:

What makes Mandee’s Treats especially unique is the experience behind the desserts. Amanda and André combined their corporate expertise with their entrepreneurial vision to create a business that blends operational excellence, thoughtful branding, hospitality, and genuine community connection. The shop embraces nostalgia and togetherness — blending classic dessert-shop charm with creative modern treats.

Whether someone stops in after dinner, celebrates a birthday, supports a local fundraiser, or simply wants a late-night cookie run in Doylestown, the mission is always the same: create “Warm Yummminess” and unforgettable moments people remember.

The business has also become deeply community-oriented, actively participating in local events, charitable causes, school partnerships, and organizations throughout Bucks County. That community-first mindset has helped Mandee’s Treats grow beyond simply being a dessert shop — it has become part of the local culture and downtown Doylestown experience.

Today, Mandee’s Treats continues to evolve while staying rooted in its founding values:
family
hospitality
exceptional customer experience
creativity
nostalgia
generosity
and bringing people together through dessert.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely has not been a completely smooth road, but honestly, that’s part of the journey of being small business owners. When Amanda and André took over the business formerly known as Mom’s Cookie Bar, they knew they were stepping into something that needed a fresh start. The business had been struggling, and they quickly realized they weren’t just taking over a dessert shop — they were working to rebuild trust, energy, reputation, and the overall customer experience.

That’s ultimately why Amanda and André decided to fully rebrand to Mandee’s Treats. They wanted to create something that truly reflected who they are and what they believed the business could become. From the beginning, their focus has been centered around hospitality, warmth, community, and creating an unforgettable guest experience through what they call “Warm Yummminess.”

Of course, there have absolutely been challenges along the way. Financially, every small business owner understands the balancing act — managing expenses, maintaining high-quality products, investing back into the business, and navigating slower seasons. Since Mandee’s Treats is a dessert business, seasonality definitely plays a role. The winter months can be much slower, while the spring and summer seasons bring much more foot traffic and activity to downtown Doylestown.

But through all of it, what has truly kept Amanda and André motivated has been the incredible support from their customers — both loyal longtime guests and so many new customers who have embraced Mandee’s Treats since the rebrand. Watching people walk into the store excited, bringing their families and friends back, sharing the business on social media, and becoming part of the journey has meant everything to them.

Amanda and André have also been fortunate to build an amazing team that believes in their vision and genuinely cares about the customers and community. Between their employees, community partnerships, and the continued support throughout Bucks County, they remain incredibly optimistic about the future and excited to continue growing Mandee’s Treats the right way.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
Amanda and André both come from extensive professional backgrounds in corporate America, and much of what makes Mandee’s Treats special today is rooted in the experience, leadership, and passion they developed throughout their careers.

Amanda brings more than 30 years of marketing experience and currently serves as a Marketing Executive within the medical device industry, while also helping lead Mandee’s Treats. Her expertise in branding, customer engagement, strategic marketing, and consumer experience has played a major role in shaping the identity and growth of the business. From the rebranding of Mandee’s Treats to the company’s social media presence, in-store atmosphere, and overall customer connection, Amanda’s marketing vision is deeply embedded in the brand.

André’s professional background began in corporate America as a Business Executive within the pharmaceutical industry before transitioning into venture capital and nonprofit support organizations. Throughout his career, André built extensive experience in leadership, operations, relationship-building, and community engagement. He also proudly serves on nonprofit boards including the United Way and Susan G. Komen, reflecting his longstanding passion for service and community impact.

After more than 35 years in the corporate and professional world, André made the decision to step away from corporate America and officially “quasi-retire” in order to focus full-time on Mandee’s Treats — something he genuinely describes as one of the most rewarding chapters of his life. While Amanda still has a foot in the corporate world, both Amanda and André have poured their professional experience, entrepreneurial energy, and personal values into growing Mandee’s Treats into something much bigger than a dessert shop.

What truly sets Amanda and André apart is their belief that business is ultimately about people. Whether professionally or personally, they have always been passionate about helping others, creating meaningful experiences, building relationships, supporting the community, and seeing others succeed. That philosophy is at the core of Mandee’s Treats and the company’s “Warm Yummminess” culture.

Alright, so to wrap up, is there anything else you’d like to share with us?
Outside of business, Amanda and André are proud dog parents to two very special pups — Zoya and Kai.

Zoya, their Rottweiler, is the most loyal, protective, playful, silly, and absolutely gigantic “nugget” with a full-on diva personality that keeps everyone entertained. Kai, their energetic cattle dog (lovingly called the “hyper menace”), is the full of energy — nonstop motion, full of personality, and endlessly loving.

Together, they bring chaos, joy, and balance to Amanda and André’s home. Their love for their dogs and animals even inspired the popular “Zoya Pup Cup” at Mandee’s Treats, a fun nod to how important pets are in their lives.

For Amanda and André, Zoya and Kai are truly family, and that same sense of warmth and love is what they strive to bring into Mandee’s Treats every day.
