Community Highlights: Meet Wendy Drummond of Sweet Paige Baking Co.

Today we’d like to introduce you to Wendy Drummond.

Hi Wendy, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Sweet Paige Baking Co. was born out of both heartbreak and hope.

In 2012, my daughter, Paige, was diagnosed with a brain tumor. After an incredibly difficult journey, we lost her in 2013. Like many families walking through childhood cancer, we were faced not only with unimaginable grief, but also the financial strain that comes with medical care and loss.

In 2015, I started Sweet Paige Baking Co. as a way to honor Paige’s memory and help rebuild after one of the hardest seasons of our lives. What began as something deeply personal slowly grew into something much bigger than I ever imagined. Baking became healing. It became purpose.

Paige had a beautiful spirit, and I wanted her legacy to continue bringing joy to people. That’s where our slogan, “Bring Paige to the Party,” truly comes from. Every cake, cookie, dessert board, and celebration we create carries a little piece of her story.

Over the years, Sweet Paige Baking Co. has grown from a home bakery into a recognized local business serving weddings, celebrations, wholesale partners, coffee shops, boutiques, and corporate clients throughout our community. I’ve also expanded into charcuterie experiences through Board Out of Our Minds, creating intentional food experiences that bring people together.

Today, my business is about so much more than desserts. It’s about celebrating life, creating moments of joy, and reminding people that even after loss, beautiful things can still grow. Sweet Paige Baking Co. is proof that purpose can come from pain and that love can continue to ripple outward in ways you never expect.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Sweet Paige Baking Co. has always been a self-funded business. It started as a side hustle fueled by passion, late nights, and a dream of building something meaningful. For a long time, I balanced growing the business while working full-time.

One of the biggest turning points came when I unexpectedly lost my full-time job after my position was eliminated. Looking back, I often joke that it may have been my boss’s way of pushing me out of the nest because she knew how badly I wanted to become a full-time business owner. But in the moment, it was scary.

I found myself at a crossroads: find another full-time job and risk losing the business I had worked so hard to build because a new schedule might not allow me the time to keep growing it or take a leap of faith and bet on myself.

I chose the leap of faith.

It has not always been easy, and there were definitely moments of uncertainty trying to make ends meet. Being self-funded means, you learn very quickly how to be resourceful, strategic, and intentional. I had to learn how to grow smarter, not just harder, and make decisions that would help the business remain sustainable long-term.

Most importantly, I learned to trust the process, trust my faith, and pray through the hard seasons. There have been many moments where doors unexpectedly opened at just the right time, reminding me to keep going. Every challenge taught me something, and every setback helped shape the business into what it is today.

I truly believe the difficult parts of the journey made me a stronger business owner and gave Sweet Paige Baking Co. even more heart.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Sweet Paige Baking Co.?
Sweet Paige Baking Co. is a Pennsylvania-licensed boutique bakery built on the belief that life’s sweetest moments deserve to be celebrated well. What began as a custom dessert business has evolved into a brand focused on elevated baked goods, intentional gifting, wholesale partnerships, and memorable food experiences.

At the heart of our brand is one very special mission: honoring the legacy of my daughter, Paige. Our slogan, “Bring Paige to the Party,” is more than just a tagline. It represents joy, celebration, and the belief that love continues to show up in meaningful ways. Every order we create carries a piece of that story.

Today, Sweet Paige Baking Co. specializes in premium baked goods, gourmet cookies, bakery-style scones, celebration desserts, dessert tables, seasonal offerings, and thoughtfully curated treats for both individual customers and business partners. While custom celebrations remain part of what we do, we have intentionally shifted much of our focus toward wholesale partnerships with coffee shops, boutiques, corporate clients, and local businesses. I love creating products that help other businesses enhance the experience they offer their customers while also supporting local collaboration.

Alongside Sweet Paige Baking Co., I also founded Board Out of Our Minds Charcuterie Experience, which allows us to expand into grazing tables, charcuterie experiences, brunch boards, and elevated event offerings. Together, the two brands allow us to create meaningful food-centered experiences in a way that feels both creative and intentional.

What sets us apart is the heart behind the brand and the intentionality behind every decision. We are relationship-driven and quality-focused. We believe in thoughtfully crafted products, genuine community partnerships, and creating things that feel personal. Whether it’s a corporate dessert drop, a coffee shop wholesale item, a bridal gathering, or a simple family celebration.

What I’m most proud of is that we’ve built a brand people trust. Sweet Paige Baking Co. was built from heartbreak, faith, resilience, and a lot of hard work. To see it grow into something that brings joy to others while honoring Paige’s legacy means more than I could ever put into words.

More than anything, I want readers to know that our businesses are about connection. Food has a way of bringing people together, creating memories, and making ordinary moments feel special and if we can be a small part of that, then we’re doing exactly what we set out to do.

How can people work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
There are so many ways people can work with and support our businesses, and honestly, community support has been one of the biggest reasons we’ve been able to grow.

Through Sweet Paige Baking Co., people can work with us for celebration desserts, custom treats, dessert tables, seasonal offerings, corporate gifting, and specialty baked goods. We are especially excited about continuing to grow our wholesale partnerships with coffee shops, boutiques, local businesses, and organizations that want to offer elevated desserts and baked goods to their customers or teams.

Through Board Out of Our Minds Charcuterie Experience, we also offer grazing tables, charcuterie experiences, brunch boards, and curated food experiences for showers, corporate gatherings, celebrations, special events, and weddings.

We absolutely love collaborating with fellow small businesses, venues, coffee shops, event professionals, and community organizations. Some of my favorite opportunities have come from creative partnerships that allow us to support one another while creating something meaningful for customers.

And truly, support does not always have to mean making a purchase. Supporting a small business can be as simple as sharing a post, recommending us to a friend, leaving a review, inviting us into your workplace or event, or simply cheering us on. Small businesses grow because communities choose to believe in them, and I never take that support for granted.

The best way to connect with us is through social media, word-of-mouth referrals, or directly through our websites and email. We are always excited to explore intentional partnerships and creative opportunities that align with our mission of bringing people together through food.
