Today we’d like to introduce you to Vincent DiFrancesco.
Hi Vincent, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Vince has owned the business since September 1984 and has worked for 39 years by himself, six days a week. He knows almost all the names of the people who come through the doors. It is a small, family-owned optical store that carries over 900 frames at any given time. The brands range from “price conscious” to “fashion luxury.”
We make sure each customer finds the right frame for their face and prescription. With over 50 years of eyewear experience, Vince will always find the perfect frame for you.
Dominic joined his father in October 2023, coming from 10 years with Clarks Shoes. The attention to fit, style, and feel continues.
We also have a lens finishing lab on-site, where we cut almost all lenses in-house with the same personal touch.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Ambler is very popular and on the rise today. Thirty years ago, many local small businesses closed, and sometimes Vince’s car would be the only one in the lot. Vince’s attention to customers is what keeps people coming back. More recently, with the reopening of the Ambler Theater and the many diverse restaurant choices, Ambler has become a must-visit town. It is great to be part of the growth and revitalization of a town.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Each step of the way we are here to do what’s best for the customer and their prescription. Picking frames that look like they were made for the customer. Choosing the type of lens best for the prescription. Cutting and mounting the lens. Adjusting the frame (at any time).
We have paper files. Some current customer files have been here since 1984. Kids who got their first pair of glasses from Vince are now getting their first pair of progressive lenses. Ambler has grown and changed for the better. Vince has been here every step of the way
What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
I get to work for my dad now. He built up this business. Every day, every new customer, every returning customer, is in the shop because of Vince. I hope in 40 years I can come close to that quality of person and business.
