Today we’d like to introduce you to Andrew Zang.
Hi Andrew, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I began planning Zang Physical therapy about a year prior to launch which was in 2016. I was becoming unhappy with the way in which care was delivered to patients. Trying to juggle two or three patients at a time did not allow me to spend the time desired with the patients I was treating. I was fortunate enough to spend time with some great mentors over the prior few years while I was completing some post-professional training, and watching how they practiced led me to want to make a change. I knew that to treat patients in the manner I wanted that I was going to have to do it myself. It would not be possible to work for a larger company and be permitted the time to see patient’s individually as I felt they deserved. And so I took the leap, hoping it would work. I juggled an additional part-time job and did some teaching to help from a financial standpoint. After about 2 years I was busy enough to drop the part-time gig and focus entirely on Zang PT. I have continued the teaching as I find it fun and important to instill values for the next generation of PTs working through their educational process. By the 3 year mark I began to collaborate with other health orientated businesses to create a one stop shop so to speak for health and wellness. Presently in the building beyond the physical therapy services are Pilates, personal training, and massage. I am grateful for the community which I have served over the last 10 years and who have helped my business to thrive.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No business start-up is ever smooth. The greatest struggle was believing that what I was building was going to be successful. So many people felt a cash-based PT clinic was just not going to work. I had to prove all those wrong by stepping out of my comfort zone and market myself. In order to be successful I had to get others to believe in me and what I was offering and that it was going to make a difference in their life.
We’ve been impressed with Zang Physical Therapy, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Zang Physical Therapy is a cash-based concierge physical therapy clinic. We specialize in treating individuals with pain or dysfunction who want to resume their active lifestyle without the need for pain meds, injections, or thoughts of surgery. We treat orthopedic (muscle/joint) issues with a unique blend of hands-on care and active exercise. Our exercise programs are not cookie-cutter in any way. Numerous patients have said, “what we do in here is so unique and different than any other place I have been for therapy.” Working to develop a plan to get people back to their specific activities requires creativity and is a fun challenge to meet. What makes us different is that the patient actually gets 100% of their PTs undivided attention. There are no other patients present during that visit and there are no aides, assistants, or hands-offs. Each patient has just 1 point of contact through their journey back to pain-free life. Additionally, Zang Physical Therapy provides dry needling services as an adjunct tool to relieve tight/tense muscles as well as stubborn muscle aches.
So, before we go, how can our readers or others connect or collaborate with you? How can they support you?
I have had the opportunity to work with some amazing people as a result of their aches or pains. I take great pride in getting them back to what they love. As a part of my journey over the past 10 years, I have had the opportunity to collaborate and work with many folks in the health and wellness spaces. This includes personal trainers, psychologists, massage therapists, Pilates and yoga instructors, and more. It usually starts with a simple email or phone call and if there is a match we take it from there. Generally in the health/wellness space there is plenty of room for collaboration as we all want to see and work with the same crowd of people. The best way to support Zang Physical Therapy is to suggest to someone you know with muscle or joint ache or pain to call. Each new patient’s journey begins with a phone call.
