Life & Work with Dwayne Kirkland of Philadelphia Native

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dwayne Kirkland.

Hi Dwayne, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Dwayne Kirkland, also known as D Kirk (KV) is an artist from Philadelphia. He developed his love for music from his father and his sound could be best described as having a west coast/swagger vibe. Since Kirk’s family and friends are of Caribbean and Jamaican decent you will find that much of his music is inspired by the sounds of island style dance-hall beats. His song, “Put It Down” featuring the artist Sunnie is a rap record about love and dance. Through love and dance, D Kirk’s style can best be described as Shaggy and Sean Paul inspired.

Although most of his songs can also be described as “feel-good” music, D Kirk has publicly advocated for mental health awareness after dealing with depression in high school. For D Kirk, his music is his light out of the darkness and he strives to share that light to his loyal fans.

Today, D Kirk is working on new music and has his biggest record “Like That” featuring popular artist Rayven Justice and he became platinum independently with his Record “My Type” Co-signed by RNB Hitmaker and songwriter Ne-yo.
