Today we’d like to introduce you to Michael Judkins.
Hi Michael, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I started as early as High School. In which I discovered poetry and learning what words really mean to me. I wanted to show that in my creative works. The feeling and direction of fulfilling your world with purpose for the community. I used to work as a club and artist promoter/street outreach, which allowed me to explore the music and film industries. I worked on independent and major productions and produced my own short films, stage plays, and feature films. It starts with a vision, a passion, and a heart to keep going. I started my creative journey in high school, where I discovered poetry and learned the true meaning of words for myself. I wanted to express this understanding in my creative work, driven by a desire to live a purposeful life and contribute to the community.
Previously, I worked as a club and artist promoter and in street outreach, which allowed me to explore the music and film industries. I participated in both independent and major productions and produced my own short films, stage plays, and feature films. It all begins with a vision, a passion, and the determination to overcome obstacles.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I had many ups and downs while building a brand. Creative arts fields at times. seems far away or unreal. Lots of talking and accepting that you have to build it before they come. nowadays. Learning the basics, such as business marketing, business capital, and such. helps anyone navigate the industry. I had an experience when I was 19. I was working in the New York City club/artist street outreach, and I met several industry key people. I invested in a company product whose deal did not come to fruition. And, I lost the money with no communication from the company. Just disappeared. That taught me to really consider every opportunity; however, check first.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I bring words to life. I created several short films, stage plays, and community events. I produced an annual event called Arts and Care Recovery, which brings presenters and the community together to learn about wellness and care. I also produce stage plays and will be bringing back Interlude to Sentimental Me Stage Play, based on the Poetry book of the same name. First run sold out in two nights. I am looking forward to bringing this stage show back. I am also in production with a BIOPOC- Steve Brosky Living in Allentown, based on a singer-songwriter whose music saved his life.
Also, co-producer on a documentary, Silent Streams Anti-Bullying project, featuring individuals sharing their stories about bullying and overcoming challenges.
Motown and Paint- Three dates and the Community Art Gallery at the end of the year. I am just building and collaborating with creatives to bring independent arts to life.
I recently released a poetry title: Deeper Thank You Think! A free verse self-expression dealing with grief and overcoming. Available at Barnes and Noble.com, Amazon.com. Walmart.com and more. Check it out!
How do you think about happiness?
Being at peace makes me happy. I understand now that, in life, peace is a word that holds the most importance. Doing things that make you feel peace. It’s a way to connect deeply with yourself and discover what you truly like and don’t.
