Derek, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I’m Derek Lott, Started in fashion at 18yrs old through James Baldwin in Philly in 2011, started Diamond Dreams Movement Productions (Media Agency) & brand managed a few Up & coming Entrepreneurs from 2015-2016 & 2018 wrote my first book, “Views From The Trap (still available)(Poetry Book) & I started Dream$ Of Ruler$ (Fashion Brand). We’ve grown through Webseries, Podcasts, Publications & Local & some national support & still growing
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Not all…the road has been filled with small ups & big downs with magazine features, inconsistent sales, inconsistent people, dealing with the struggles of life while still trying to grow the brand & learning on the go. Everything You go through ends Up making You stronger & prepared for the next levels

What were you like growing up?
I was an active kid. My mother, Melanie Lott-Harris, kept My Sister Katherine & I in a lot of activities, sports, & even etiquette classes to experience what the world had to offer. I was around people with class & money before I ever saw the streets, I didn’t have alot of friends but knew a lot of people because of family & participating in extra curriculars. I always found ways to make money like selling snacks at school in middle school or taking back gifts on birthdays & holidays to get the money save half & spend the rest on what I really wanted.
